Kogi State House of Assembly,the seat of power of the legislative arm of kogi state government has gone on fire.

Our Correspondent gathered that the fire engulfed the Gallery/Chamber of the Assembly at about 8.a.m on Monday and the cause has not been ascertained as at the time of this report on Monday.

The Reporters Correspondent,who visited the Assembly reports that some members of staff of the Assembly were seen removing property they could retrieve from the fire.

The Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole,who was at the Assembly,in an interview with Journalists, expressed shock over the and promised that the Assembly would investigate the matter to know the actual cause of the fire.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Edward Onoja,who also visited the Assembly, ruled out possibility of politics on the issue, adding that all documents of the Assembly remained in tact.

According to him, the state government will look for temporary office accommodation for the members to continue their legislative function pending when the Assembly will return to normalcy.

He described the fire incident as first of its kind in the history of the state that would happen to state-owned infrastructure.
