A former governor in one of the south south states in Nigeria, name witheld, has abandoned his entourage in the thick of gridlock at the kotonkarfe axis of Lokoja-Abuja Road as he sneaked out of the problem and found his way to Abuja.
A Correspondent of The Reporters, who is among the victims of the gridlock, for 12 hours going, reports that said, the ex-governor who was trapped in the traffic jam which commenced on Monday and continued on Tuesday morning with no end in sight, took to marathon trek until he was able to get a car that conveyed him to Abuja.

According to him, besides the flood that took substantial part of the road, an articulated vehicle that fell on one lane of the road was the major cause of the problem, adding that the vehicle remained on the spot as at the time of this report on Tuesday morning.
He said that the police and soldiers were seen trying to control traffic, noting however that “the situation of traffic here can best be described as very slow,compared to the long queue of vehicles that dotted the road.”

The articulated vehicle said to have contributed to the gridlock.
Reporting on the feeling of the victims,he added “the experience is a serious one, impacting negatively on thousands of passengers caught up in the traffic jam in many ways.
Our, correspondent,however, reports that the volume of water at Murtala Mohammed Bridge on the road started receding on Monday and continued to the time of this report on Tuesday morning.
Our Correspondent reports that the traffic assumed “gentle movement”as from 8.a.m,thus relieving passengers of the trauma.
Many of the passengers, who spoke with our Correspondent, expressed dismay over the prolong nature of the gridlock and called on the appropriate authorities to find timely solution to it and safe them the trauma of prolong gridlock.
