Four members of a family affected by the ongoing flood in Lokoja, kogi State, have been admitted at the Federal Medical Centre FMC Lokoja, following their involvement in gas explosion.
Our Correspondent gathered that the incident happened on September 28,2022 at Adankolo, a suburb of Lokoja.
The online news medium learnt that after the flood drove the family from their home, they secured temporary accommodation in Adankolo where they decided to use gas to cook but in the process, the gas suddenly exploded.
The victims: Musa Aminat, Muhammed Musa, Abdulsalam Hadizat and Usman Halimat Sadiya, sources added, had severe life-threatening burns and in critical condition in the hospital with bandage and plaster all over their bodies.
Commenting further on the tragic development, another gas victim, Godwin Wanbebe, who spoke on Sunday said that the family had spent all they had, on the treatment of members in the hospital, adding that more medical bills remained to be offset.
Tracing the possible cause of the gas explosion he said: “At their temporary abode after settling down, they decided to prepare food to eat and so they brought out their gas and lit it.The cylinder exploded immediately it came in contact with flame.
“The explosion of the gas has been attributed to the hurried way and manner with which they packed their belongings to avoid being taken over by water, probably the cylinder had somewhere it was leaking and that explained why it exploded.
“The family is calling on well-meaning citizens in the society to help safe the lives of their members.
“We, therefore, solicit the support of well meaning Kogites and Nigerians so as to offset bills incurred. Nothing is too big or small.God will bless you all as you come to their aid. You can send it to the following account
