ODA expresses commitment towards continued peace,development in Okengwen district

Okengwen Development Association, ODA, has expressed its unwavering commitment to ensure that the current peace prevailing in Okengwen district, Central Senatorial district of Kogi State, is maintained and enhanced.

The President General of the association,Dauda Ahmed Yusuf, gave the commitment on Saturday during the 2022 General Executive Committee meeting in Lokoja.

He said the current administration which he leads remained resolute and determined to do everything humanly possible within its limited capacity and some challenges, to make positive difference, adding that it would not renege in actualising such vow.

Yusuf disclosed that ODA under his leadership had ” taken the bull by the horn in many areas” which include: registration of the association the Corporate Affairs Commission,CAC, after 85 years of its existence.”

Other score cards of his leadership ,he added, are provision of sets of student desk to Okengwen Community Secondary School (OCSS),Arigo and provision of iron burglary proof to Community Clinic ,Abuga and renovation of Okengwen Town Hall.

ODA, Yusuf further told members, also influenced the provision of electricity transformer at Okengwen General Hospital, “through our son, Alhaji Lamidi Obadaki and constructed perimeter fencing at the popular Ohumanaka market among others.

The ODA President General,who said that the association “cannot afford to leave any stone unturned, in our quest for peace and progress in our community through efficient, effective and impeccable leadership, devoid of sentiments and ill-feelings”,: solicited the cooperation of members to enable the association achieve its lofty goals and objectives.

“I believe that we can all acknowledge the impressive improvement in our cordial relationship, today, as one and indivisible family,” he noted.

Members, in their various reactions to the speech of the President General, commended him and his lieutenants for the job well done and urged them to continue after their tenure must have ended in December 2022.

Highlights at the occasion were the appointment of four daughters of the district as life matrons of association and the setting up of committee to look for land for the siting of the proposed technical school to be located in Okengwen district.

Our Correspondent reports that the meeting provided opportunity for members to interact, exchange ideas, x-rayed some issues against the development of ‘Okengwen ehi”and at the end of the meeting, arrived at fruitful resolution to enhance their corporate existence.

The online publication reports that personalities that attended the event,which drew members from far and near, include the State Chairman, Jamatul Nasir Islam,JNI, Amb.Usman and a one-time Auditor General,Kogi State, Elder Gabriel Majebi.

Others are; the Kogi State Head of Service(HoS),Mrs Anna Odio, former HoS,Mrs HOK,Lawal, the Managing Director,Kogi State Agricultural Development Project,ADP,Prince George Ogirima Bello and the Editor-in-Chief, The Reporters, Alhaji D.U Ahmed among others.
