The Kogi State Chairman of Persons with Disabilities, PWDs, Mr Daniel Arome Ibrahim, has appealed to public spirited individuals and institutions to come to his aid by providing him with vehicle to enable him execute his programmes for his members effectively.

Ibrahim, who made the appeal in an interview with the Correspondent of The Reporters in Lokoja on Friday, identified lack of mobility as the greatest challenge facing him in the discharge of his public and private duties.

He said: “I want to use medium to appeal to well meaning Nigerians and organisations, who are in love with persons with disabilities to come to my assistance in the area of mobility.

“As a man with disability, just like my colleagues, the major issue we face in life is how to move from place to place. Once, as persons with disability, we are given mobility, 80 to 100 per cent of our problem is solved.

“But as persons with disabilities, without mobility to aid our movement, this tends to bring out the pain of our disability the more.”

“Mobility is like you have lent me a leg to work with my able counterparts in the society.

“I am a man with disability but I never believe that disability can ever be a barrier to my becoming anything I want to become in life. That is why the need for mobility, for me, becomes a necessity.

The state Chairman of PWDs also appealed to Kogi State Government and organisations, who are into philanthropical to ameliorate the plight of PWDs members, to do the needful for him in that regard.

According to Ibrahim, as the chairman of PWDs, it is his statutory responsibility to be checking members of his organization, from time to time.to know how about their welfare.

He, however noted with regret that his lack of mobility had greatly limited his ability to perform such function effectively.

He said that the appeal became having tried all within his power to acquire vehicle without success.

Ibrahim, who commended the state government for giving PWDs the disability commission, noted that governnent is saddled with enormous responsibilities demanding its attention and therefore could not meet all the demands of the people and organisations.

“It cannot meet every need at the same time, but I know that anything can happen and that is why I am crying out at this critical moment for the urgency need for me to be mobile in carrying out my duties to my members.
