Man allegedly kills woman for refusing to marry him

The Police Command in Adamawa State has arrested Ibrahim Muhammadu for allegedly killing a woman that promised to marry him but turned down his offer for marriage.

The police said that the suspect who hails from Gadawaliwol in Jabbi Lamba, Girei Local Government Area of the state, hired someone to set the couple on fire on September 6, barely two weeks after their wedding.

The online publication gathered that the woman died on September 10, due to severe burns inflicted on her during the incident while her husband is receiving medication in the hospital.

Our Correspondent further that Ibrahim Muhammadu, married with four children, fell in love with the deceased and was said to have spent about N150, 000 on her, after she agreed to marry him.

Enraged by the attitude of the woman, Ibrahim Muhammadu was alleged to have given one Ibrahim Savanna N5,000 and four measures of rice to get the couple killed.

Sources added that the deceased, after allegedly collecting the money, declined the proposal and got married to another suitor who is now battling sever burns in the hospital.

After collecting the money and the rice, Ibrahim Savanna, armed with petrol and matches, went to the room of the couple in the night and set it on fire after, locking it up.

 
The arsonists were said to have taken to their heels after commiting the henious crime but lock ran out of Muhammadu as he was varrested by the police.

 
The Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, for the Police Command in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the Criminal Investigation Department of the Command had commenced investigation into the matter.

Nguroje, who assured the public that the suspect would be duly investigated and prosecuted in court to ensure Justice,advised the people not to take law into their hands.
