From Lokoja.
kogi State House of Assembly on Wednesday, screened, cleared and confirmed Kingsley Fanwo as a commissioner as presented to the House by Governor Yahaya Bello.
The exercise was as a result of the last week deferment by the Speaker of the Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole.
Our Correspondent recalls that Fanwo, who was the Commissioner for Information and Communications, resigned his appointment in April to contest for the House of Representatives, Yagba Federal Constituency, but lost to Folusho Olafemi.
The governor, subsequently after the primary election, forwarded his name along with two others to the Assembly as commissioner-nominee, for screening and confirmation.
At the Wednesday sitting, the Speaker, who corrected the notion which said that Fanwo’s nomination was rejected by the House last week, said he was only refered to Wednesday’s legislative sitting.
He equally asked the members to allow the nominee take a bow and leave, adding that Fanwo justified his position as a commissioner for Information and Communications before his resignation.
The speaker was seconded by the members.
Speaking after his confirmation, Fanwo promised that the digital Radio transmitter, purchased by the state government, would soon be installed at the State Broadcasting station, Lokoja.
The Secretary to the State Governnent,SSG,Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade; Commissioners for Finance and Education, Mr. Asiru Idris and Wemi Jones were among governnent appointees that attended the occasion.
