Amb. Gabriel Enemona,the Managing Director, CEO of PFTN Nig. Ltd, has sued Sahara Reporters to court, demanding the sum of N100 million for damages over a publication by the media organisation which he noted had affected his image and business in a negative light.
Amb.Enemona stated this on Wednesday during a Press Conference in Lokoja, where he was represented by Barr. Salifu Oguwche Usman of Rise Rise Andrew Adejoh, a firm of solicitors.
Amb.Enemona,who is also the President of Enemona Foundation, described the entire publication published by Sahara Reporters on March 31,2022, titled:”Kogi Deputy Governor Business partner defraud Mr. Olawole”, as “false and injurious”.
He noted that by the said publication, the media outfit had defamed his image in the eyes of the public and caused his business collosal loss.
According to Enemona, Sahara Reporters missed the point by mistaking his name to have a semblance with that of the Kogi State Deputy Governor.
He recalled that he gave notice to Sahara Reporters regarding the said publication since May 10,2022 during which he demanded Sahara Reporters to retract the publication.
He told Journalists that failure of Sahara Reporters to retract the publication and a reminder was sent to it on May 26,2022 and the media remained adamant, a legal team had approached a Federal High Court, Lokoja to file processes against the Sahara reporters.
According to Enemona, Sahara Reporters failed to do diligent work as it did not verify the story before publication, pointing out that he was at no time a front.
He said that he, as the Managing Director, CEO of PFTN Nig. Ltd, was into business relationship with Olawole with an agreement to make monthly returns on investment to the tune of N28 million, adding that he hads paid up as at 31st January, 2022.
The ambassador expressed concern that in February, 2022, things, however, took a new turn in the coal business, owing to the cost of diesel.
He said that rather than using civil means, as expected in the spirit of business, to resolve the issue, his partner resorted to police harassment.
