The Police Command in kogi state says it is not relenting in efforts to ensure that Mrs Sefi Jimoh, a middle aged widow abducted by Kidnappers on Saturday regain her freedom and reunited with her family.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state,SP William Ovye Aya, gave the assurance in a telephone interview with the Correspondent of The Reporters in Lokoja on Tuesday.
“We have intensified efforts in synergy with other security agencies to make sure that the kidnapped woman is released unhurt and reunited with her family,” Aya assured.
Our Correspondent recalls that the widow, who is an environmental officer with the kogi state government, was Kidnapped on Saturday at about 10 a.m between phase 2 road and Zone 8 road in Lokoja.
Sources said the Kidnappers pounced on her while she was either waiting to take commercial motorcycle from the vicinity of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church on phase 2 to Workers’ Village,zone 8, or on the bike to her residence after observing her morning prayer at the church.
Feelers from the family indicate that the Kidnappers have called on the family of their victim, demanding for N10 million ransom for them to release her.
Other sources said after much plea by the children and other family members, the Kidnappers have reduced the ransom to N5 million, the development sources said the family could still not afford.
Mrs Jimoh, who lost her husband some years ago, is described as a middle level civil servant who cannot afford to pay N5 million ransom.
The Reporters gathered that when given opportunity, by the Kidnappers, to speak with her children on phone from their unidentified den, the woman was said to have pleaded with her children not to argue with the Kidnappers in their demand for ransom, to avoid unpalatable consequences on her.
She was also said to have urged her children and other Nigerians to increase their prayer for her safe release.
