Mothers union and the different women groups of the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Diocese of Minna, Anglican Communion on Sunday, joined their counterparts world over to commemorate the 2022 mothering Sunday.
Speaking at the occasion, Evangelist (Mrs.) Lois Kolo reminded mothers on the need not to neglect or relegate their God-given role of managing their homes, training and proper upbringing up their children in the fear of God for vain glories.
On the 2022 Mothering Sunday,with the theme: “Free will and Human Rights: Biblical Christian Perspective”, Kolo said is simply reminded mothers that neglecting their homes is an indirect way of inviting societal ills that no one will be willing to associate with.
A neglected home or a family without a mother figure to pilot affairs, Lois said could only metamorphose into;ill-trained, ill-equipped and less-mannered or bad children bringing about corrupt society hence the need for them to be conscious of their actions and inactions.
She said God made the woman, Eve as a helpmate to complete the man, Adam, and in the same way, women as God’s creation with the fear of God, adding that they should endeavour to play same role to their husbands in order to bring about “a future we all can be proud of.”
Mrs. Lois, who was however quick to add that she was not against agitations for Human Rights and agitations for the recognition of women in Nigeria encouraged women in public places of authority to do whatever they find themselves doing in Godly manner.
Reading from various portions of the Bible to buttress her points, Lois Kolo said, “A home without a mother figure or a woman to pilot affairs breeds a society of people with little or no morals, because a home without a woman is like a moving vehicle without direction”.
The security situation is due mainly to lack of proper training of children of yesterday who are now grown up youths, pointing out, adding that most of the youths that indulged in crime or any form of criminality, causing nuisance to families and the country at large were products of homes without a mother figure.
“If God in His infinite mercy has recognised women as vessels of honour to bear children, train those children in the way of the Lord,so that they grow up to follow the footprints of Jesus, Kolo added.
The religious leaders stressed that “it is important for mothers to obey than leaving their children to become tools of destruction in devil’s hand.”
Also speaking, the Diocesan Bishop of Minna/Archbishop of Lokoja Province, Most Rev. Daniel A. Yisa, commended women of the Diocese and mothers generally for being role models and not losing focus in the upbringing of their children.
Bishop Kolo, however, encouraged mothers and women generally that, “Believer’s Liberty in Christ” as interpreted in, Gals 5:1, as the sub-theme of the 2022 Mothering, is a message that every mother must not toy with in order to bring forth Godly children as future leaders.
