As all roads will soon lead to Ilorin, the kwara state capital on March 11 for the celebration of Gss Afon 45th anniversary and reunion of its old students, the old students of various houses during their period have engaged in health contributory competitions, kind and cash, for the success of the event with red house leading.

Impeccable sources close to the organising committee for the planned occasion told The Reporters on Sunday in Ilorin that red house clinched first position, having attracted the attention of a friend of the red house, who facilitated the deliverance of a giant transformer worth millions of naira to the school.

A source, who wants to remain anonymous said:” A friend of red house , Engr. kale kawu, the Dan iya of Ilorin Emirate, has also facilitated the installation of highest capacity of transformer with all the installation parts; kits and fencing for security, the entire cost of which is in multi millions.

The source,a top ranking jurist in Kwara state, who also belonged to red house during his staying in the school, further revealed that Dan iya had agreed to foot the cost of installing the transformer in the school soon.

Another old student who was also in red house has volunteered to provide 10 rooms and a hall at the Kwara state hotel for guests coming for the event, our Correspondent further learnt.

The Reporters reliably gathered that old students of green house came second, following donations/contributions of one them, a top brass in the military, toward the forthcoming event.

The said top military officer, the online publication also reports, has promised to take up and paid for security of GSS Afon as demanded by the school, renovate physics laboratory and equip it and donated N200,000 to the programme with a promise to be physically present at the occasion.

Yellow house emerged third position through the value contributions it’s members while members of other house are making conscious efforts in healthy rivalry to outdo the other in their financial and moral input towards the forthcoming occasion.

Our Correspondent further reports that eith formidable committees set up to ensure the success of the event, old students of the school living in Lagos, the nation’s commercial capital, are not lagging behind in the concerted efforts to pay back to their alma mater during the occasion.

This they are doing by embarking on series of meetings in putting finishing touches to the preparation for the occasion.

On their part, the old Students in Lokoja, Kogi State take custody of monetary contributions by members and handle publicity of developments leading to the event with hope remaining high that the event will be an all round success and a memorable outing be hold.
