Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has decorated his son, Adeboye Obasanjo, as Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army, following his promotion and having passed through the military mills within and outside Nigeria.

Obasanjo, a former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was accorded a rare privilege by the military authorities to decorate his son with his new tank at the Nigerian Army Engineers Corps at the Bonny Camp, Lagos.

The two term civilian President and former Military Head of State, who is also a retired Army General, was accompanied by Towulade of Akinale Kingdom of Egbaland, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, to the occasion.

Brigadier General OA Obasanjo holds two Master Degrees and other professional qualifications.

Our Correspondent recalls that Chief Obasanjo was a Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army, 46 years ago, before earning promotions upto three-Star General.

He succeeded General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, the then Military Head of State, who was assassinated in Lagos during the February 13,1976 LT.Col. Buka Suka Dimka-led military coup.

Chief Obasanjo retired in 1979 when he handed over the mantle of leadership of Nigeria to Alhaji Shehu Usman Shagari of the blessed memory, who was elected on the platform of the then NPN.
