The old Students of Government Secondary School, Afon in Kwara State have set up an 18-member committee/Exco for the forth coming reunion and 45th anniversary.
Our correspondent recalls that the Government Secondary School Afon was established in 1976 by the regime of Maj. Gen. George Agbazika Innih, the then Military Governor of Kwara State with Chief Solomon Aboyeji as the pioneer principal.
The the committee has Alhaji Dada Ahmed as the National Coordinator,Alhaji AbdulAzeez Saka,Assistant National Coordinator and Engr. Abdul kareem Tunde Apata – Coordinator, Ilorin Axis..
Others are:Alhaji Yakub AbdulRazaq – Chairman, Dr. Salman A. A,Deputy Chairman,Dr. Shittu Raji – Coordinator, Project Implementation Committee,Engr. Temim Aliyu PRO, Alhaji Babatunde Ibrahim Isiaka (Milo) (MILO) – Coordinator, North Central.
The committee also include:Hon. Dare Falodun – Coordinator, Lagos Axis, Barr. Hon. Rasaq Akorede – Member. Dr. David Onaolapo Amao,Member,. Hon. Justice Nureni Kuranga, member, Prof. Suleiman Ambali, member and Hajia Aminat Adenike Olopoenia, member.

The Reporter recalls that the 1984 set of the School gave the School a face lift with construction of gate and perimeter fencing which was commissioned on February 25,2021.
A group of Old Students, under the Proudly GSS Afon in 2021, constructed a manual borehole, repaired an existing borehole, renovated two old classrooms into Examination Hall and constructed toilet facilities for the Senior Secondary School.
They also cleaned weeds and Trees which posed danger to the Students and School.
Commenting on the preparation for the event in a release he sent to The Reporters,one of the first set of students of the school who graduated in 1981, Alhaji Babatunde Ibrahim Isiaka,alias Milo, described Gss Afon as “a school of repute that breeds movers and shakers of Nigerian economy in a positive direction”.
The online publication reports that many products of the school are now professors, medical doctors, legal practitioners, top military officers,chieftains of industries, politicians, in journalism,top civil servants among other reputable professions,home and outside the shores of Nigeria.
