JORAISU sticks to gun on continued strike until FG meets demands

The Joint Research and Allied Sector Union (JORAISU) has vowed to continue with the strike it embarked on on October 11 until federal government meets it’s demand.

Come. Julius Oluseyi Babatunde, National Research Institute Commission (NARICOM),stated this in a statement in Ilorin.

Our Correspondent recalls that NASU and ASURI members of the Bioresources Development Centre, Ogbomoso trooped out on Monday to register their displeasure over this over what they described as lack of political will by the federal government to meet JORAISU in meaningful negotiation and approve their demands.

The NASU Members, led by Comrade Babatunde Seyi Julius and ASURI members by Comrade Femi Afolabi as well as the EXCOs of the two unions barricaded the entrance of the Centre while holding several placards with various placards bordering on the suffering of the workers of the unions.

He said:” It is no longer news that JORAISU (Joint Research and Allied Sector Union) have declared an industrial action since the eleventh day of October, 2021 due to the shabby treatment being given to workers in the research Agencies and Institutes in Nigeria.

“What is however news is the newfound vigour with which the Union is prosecuting the strike to ensure federal government comply with signed agreements and demands.

Our Correspondent reports that JORAISU demands are:Payment of 12 CONRAISS arrears of 53.37% salary increase since 2009 retirement age of 65 for non-scientific staff, peculiar/Earned allowances,establishment of a central body to be known as NARICOM (national research institute commission).

Others are; release of scheme/condition of service and
adequate funding of research institute.
