Suspected Kidnappers kill fleeing victim,whisk 6 in Kogi

A middle-aged man who tried to escape the onslaught launched on the people of Lagbeta community in Lokoja Local Governnent Area of Kogi state, recently,has lost while the suspects abducted six family members in the process.

Our Correspondent gathered that the tragedy happened when the victims, mainly farmers, were harvesting their farm produce.

A source close to the victims ,Ishaya Bulus, revealed that the victims were harvesting beniseeds when the kidnappers stormed their farm, rounded them up at gunpoint and took them to the bush.

According to him, It was while the suspects were moving the victims into the forest that one of them who attempted to escape was fired and killed by one of the suspects.

The online publication recalls that sometime ago, a popular phamacist in Okene was kidnapped and his family were said to have coughed out N15 million to the Kidnappers for him to regain from his freedom.

Similar circumstance happened to a first class traditional ruler in Ajaokuta Local Governnent Area of the state, Kidnapped in the area and had to pay ransom to secure his freedom from his abductors.

Also, some passengers of a bus returning from Okene to Lokoja, after attending a marriage ceremony in Okene, headquarters of Okene Local Governnent Area of the state, suffered similar fate about a year ago as they were kidnapped.

They were made to ransom before being released but lost of the co-passengers to the Kidnappers.

The deceased was said to have taken ill, as he could not longer cope with the punishment meted out to him and his colleagues in the kidnappers’ den.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state, DSP William Aya told our correspondent,in a telephone interview, that the command had yet to be informed of the Lagbeta incident.

DSP Aya said that perhaps, the people of the community had not informed the police in the area, hence the delay in the police station in the area to inform the police command.

He promised to get back to online media platform as soon as he gets information concerning the incident.
