The people of lwoye community of Aiyedun, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara state have appealed to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to direct the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,Salman Jawondo, to exercise his powers ” judicially and judiciously”.

The community, during a news conference in Ilorin on Monday, addressed on their behalf by Barrister Akinmade. Y. Abolarin, also appealed to the State House of Assembly to invite the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Salman Jawondo, to appear before it and explain his stand in Ayedun and Iwoye matters.

“The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice is always available for a discontinuance of the criminal case.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, in an interview with The Reporters, denied the allegation of the community leveled against him.

Stating his side on the matter, Jawando the described the action of the community as an abuse of court process over the issue between Iwoye and Aiyedun.

He said:”What happens in this case is that, Aiyedun has three components, including Iwoye.

“Sometime around 2016, the second in Command to the traditional ruler of of Aiyedun, from Iwoye started parading himself as Oba of Iwoye but before he died, he appointed one Abolarin to represent him but the traditional ruler of Aiyedun challenged this in court for violating the law.”

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice added that the court judgement was delivered in favour of the traditional ruler of Aiyedun, based on its decision that Iwoye is part and parcel of Aiyedun community.

According to him, what the people of Iwoye are doing amounts to abuse of prosecution and legal process, adding that the court, by its decision, only recognised the traditional ruler of Aiyedun in the area.

He said he had been exercising his powers judicially and judiciously, adding that it was the responsibility of his office to ensure that the rule of law is followed and that nobody’s right is violated, to ensure peace in the state..

Citing court judgement in the case of Isolo opin community, Jawando, advised the people of Iwoye to create a new virgin land where they could install their new traditional ruler in such area.

“If they want to have a new Oba, the court has advised that they look for a virgin land, settle and have their Oba installed in that new land, in the interest of peace and developmnt.

“You cannot be an Oba in a community where you are not a founder, “he stressed.
