Kidnappers abduct kogi professor, demand N20m ransom

Armed men suspected to be Kidnappers have abducted the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba in Kogi state, Prof. John Alabi.

The Reporters Correspondent gathered that the professor was abducted at about 6 p.m on Monday at Anyigba.

The suspects were said to have contacted the management of the university and the family of their victim about the developmnt, demanding N20 million ransom.

The online publication recalls that the professor was one of those who gave lecture on electoral issues at the last press week organised by the Kogi state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ on September 4,2021.

Confirming the incident to The Reporters through a text message, the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state, DSP William Aya,said”DPO ANYIGBA Division received the report of the incident”, adding that “efforts is on by the Police, Other security agencies and the vigilante to ensure the safety of the professor.”

Meanwhile, the wife of the kidnapped Professor was said to have broken down in tears when the kidnappers called on her that her husband was in their captivity, adding that the family must pay them N20 million ransom to see receive Alabi see alive.

The wife was said to have expressed worry over the inability to pay the ransom, according to family source.
