As all hands are on deck to fight the war against crime and criminality in many parts of Nigeria,to the logical conclusion,an engineer, Kayode Ojo, has advocated the restructuring of the security architecture of the nation to boost the success of the fight.
Ojo,who is also a frontline politician, industrialist, stated this while speaking with newsmen on the sideline of the first coronation of the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaiye, at Iyin-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State on Saturday.
According to him, the urgent need for such move became imperative for people to be able to have confidence in the government.
The metallurgical and materials engineer, who is also an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ekiti, ahead of the January 2022 governorship primaries, decried the current security situation in the country.
He said:” We cannot say we want to travel kilometres without feeling apprehension of being kidnapped and this confirms how bad our security set up stands.
“What we need now are people with good ideology, people with quality leadership who could use their knowledge to revamp the economy, ensure security and bring succour to the people.”
Ojo,who lamented that the security situation in the country had been very challenging, called for all hands to be on deck to strategise on how to mobilise everyone, with a view to securing the streets, towns, immediate environments, and villages.
“Now that we have social media, it is easy to report situation, but I believe that the authorities are taking actions to deal with the insecurity ravaging the country.
“We must realise that security is not only for the government but for all of us, every single person has a role to play,” he added.
On the economy, the industrialist advised the federal and state governments to build on harmonious relationship existing between the two tiers of the government to resolve the issues surrounds the Value Added Tax (VAT) controversy.
“Let us remember that we are the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, so, I don’t expect the VAT issue to disorganise us and degenerate to chaos.
“The committee set up by the Federal government and the states should parley and see how they will generate maximum benefit for all and sundry.
“The two parties should arrive at the best option that could be good for both the federal and the States governments and, I am sure, we can reach a compromise.”
