A Lokoja-based Islamic scholar and Immam, Police Command Mosque in Kogi State, SP Abdulsalam Muhammad, has called on parents in Nigeria, to be steadfast in God and be exemplary to their children, as away of curbing youth related crime and criminality in the country.
He made the call on Saturday while preaching at the wedding fatiha between Sabdat and AbdulRahman at Felele quarters in Lokoja.
The religious leader said that if parents instill the essence of religious belief and practise in God in their children,such children would fear God and eschew crime and criminality that pervaded the country today.
“If Mr A, Mr B and Mr C put his children in the way of almighty Allah, Nigeria will witness less of Kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery among other evil expressions giving the government and citizens today,”he said.
He expressed concern over the spate of crime in the society, adding that parents had pivotal role to play by checking the conduct of their children, the major population involved in perpectration of crime in the country.
Muhammad particularly called on muslim parents to insist in their children reading the Holy Quran,he described as an embodiment religious and the morality and hadith, which contains the tradition of Prophet Mohammad,as a away of making them to Almighty Allah.
The cleric advised the new couple the factor in closeness to almighty Allah in their home and pass such value to their children.
He also called on parents to be less materialistic in their endeavour and devote more time to train their children.
He Muhammad prayed Almighty to bless the couple with happy home in all ramifications with a call on them to cultivate the culture of tolerance, love and mutual respect for each other to ensure peace and lasting family
