The big man cannot sleep because he knows the poor man is still awake. The poor man cannot sleep because he is hungry.
Social Responsibility is a must….. Yesterday, I read a post on a platform where a woman was deliberating on whether to assist another woman who has six kids because
she was wise enough to plan her family with a strong family of just two kids.

Some people commented that she doesn’t owe the mother of six any obligation of help and others commented that she should help if she wanted to.

I just smiled.

Some people don’t understand the cycle of life.

Whether you like it or not;
*You might have to pay for other people’s mistake, stupidity or folly and sometimes the payment could even be fatal.
Let me explain…..

Have you ever been held up in traffic only to discover that the traffic was caused by some irresponsible driver or if you ever lived in a compound where your electricity was disconnected
because some people refuse to pay despite the fact that you have paid your own bills.?

Have you ever suffered from your car sinking because your street was flooded and that’s because the drainage was blocked by pet bottles and other garbage? ( this happened to me). I don’t throw garbage around.

Society is what it is — an interconnectivity of people and their actions.

Remember the ebola crisis? We all didn’t care what was happening in Congo till ebola came to Nigeria through Patrick Sawyer. Ebola claimed the life of one of Nigeria’s very hardworking, selfless female medical doctors.(Adadevoh)

The world watched as
China battled Coronavirus not until it spread globally.

The truth is, we are all
connected.

One way or the other we would suffer the consequences of other people’s action or inaction.

During the million boys lockdown episode , men in my neighbourhood both rich and poor had to stay up all night for about two weeks to keep watch on the neighbourhood.

They were not the parents of the kids who couldn’t train, monitor or empower their kids but they suffered the consequences as well.

We are all connected.

I constantly remind myself that

” I am not okay if my neighbour is not okay”

” My child’s future is not secured if I don’t fight and protect the future of the child next door”.

Social responsibility
is a must, especially for a parent, teacher, educator, and a mentor.

Copied!.
