The Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic community in Zaria, Kaduna state and their environs sighed a relief on Thursday as the two lecturers and six students of the institution, abducted June 10, regained freedom from their abductors.
Malam Abdullahi Shehu, the Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic, disclosed this on Friday in Zaria.
Shehu said that the two lecturers and six students regained freedom on Thursday night, adding that they had been reunited with their families after spending 31 days in captivity.
The online publication recalls that gunmen attacked the lecturers and students and matched them to unknown destination.
One of the students, however, paid the supreme price while some others sustained injuries during the process of abduction.
Shehu, who disclosed that the families of the abducted lecturers and students dialogued with their kidnappers before their release, however kept mute on payment of ransom for the release of the victims.
The online publication reports that the abductors or Kidnappers in the country usually demand for ransom running into millions of naira from the families of their victims before releasing them.
He advised students to be security-conscious and avoid moving at night.
He assured students and the general public of improved security in the institution.
Our Correspondent reports that the story is different in Zamfara State, where some of its villages came under heavy attacked leaving 35 people abducted.
