APGA

By Mimi Chiadikaobim

Chief Victor Oye, the substantive National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance,(APGA), has described his purported suspension by the National Working Committee of the party as ridiculous.

Oye, who said this in a telephone interview News men correspondent in Awka on Tuesday noted that it had become a tradition in the party that, each electioneering period, some people would want to foment trouble to cause confusion for personal interests.

Oye reassured APGA faithful that he remained the national chairman of the party and urged members of the party to disregard the announcement, describing it as inconsequential.

Our Correspondent reports that Oye’s alleged suspension came barely 24 hours after the party cleared the former Governor of the Central Bank, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, three others and disqualified five others for the party’s governorship primary election slated for June 23.

He said,”It is what we see in every primary election, so no shaking. If this were to be in other country, these people would have been arrested and jailed.

“There is a procedure and you have to give INEC a notice to be able to convene a National Working Committee. It is the chairman of National Executive Committee that convenes NWC. So, my purported removal is laughable and rubbish.

“These people do not exist and I am surprised that people are giving it publicity. What they did is media sack. Those people do not exist and they should be dealt with.”

Our Correspondent that reports that the NWC of APGA had on Tuesday said it had sacked Oye and appointed a new Acting National Chairman, MrvJude Okeke.

Rising from its 114th NWC meeting in Abuja, a faction of the party said six other members of the party suspended include: Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, Hamman Buba Ghide, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, Adamu Danjuma Musa, Chief Uchenna Okogbuo, Ifeanyi Mbaeri.

The faction said the members were suspended indefinitely, for anti-party activities, gross misconduct and conduct capable of bringing the party’s image to disrepute among others.

It mantained that NWC had nullified the disqualification of five aspirants for the governorship election in Anambra , stating that the “purported disqualification was done without the authority of the party”.

It added that it had extended the sale of its governorship forms to the June 25 and rescheduled the primary election for July 1,2021.
