Former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, has urged Nigerian youths to eschew violence and embrace peace.
Speaking with newsmen after attending the ward meeting of his party in Baboko, Ilorin to retrace their steps for the sake of the nation’s growth and development.
Baraje, who noted that various forms of violence in some parts of the country were being perpetrated by youths, lamented that the future of the country “is bleak if youths were regarded as leaders of tomorrow, continue in that their direction..
He reminded them that the much sought after job opportunities would continue to be elusive as no investor would be willing to invest in an unsafe environment.
He said:” It is only in a condusive atmosphere and a peaceful environment that development can take place. I, therefore, enjoin our youths in all parts of the country to embrace dialogue in resolving issues rather than resorting to violence which will not do anyone any good.”
He commended the PDP members in Baboko ward for remaining steadfast in their support for the immediate past Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
Baraje who is the chairman of the PDP Reconciliation Committee and Engagement Committee in the state, urged party leaders at ward levels and across the state to welcome and embrace new members.
He described his reconciliatory visits to all the 16 local government areas of the state as successful and rewarding.
