Eidel fitri: Don’t disrupt peace in Kwara, CP warms potential trouble makers

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Mr Mohammed Lawal Bagega, has warmed would-be trouble makers in the state to forget the thought of mentioning trouble during Eidel fitri, assuring the people of the Command’s determination to ensure peaceful Sallah celebration.

The police boss, who congratulated the Muslim faithful for a successful conclusion of Ramadan fasting, gave the warning in a statement in Ilorin on Tuesday,signed by the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO),SP Okasanmi Ajayi.

According to the Police Commissioner,adequate security arrangements have been put in place across the length and breadth of the state, adding that the people should go about their lawful businesses but told Muslim faithful to enjoy their sallah holidays without any fear of molestation.

He, however, warmed “all would-be trouble makers of the determination of the Command to deal decisively with anybody found committing any act of criminality before, during and after the Sallah celebration.”

The Police Commissioner disclosed that information at his disposal showed that some subversive and disgruntled elements had perfected plans to distrupt the peace and Harmony in existence in the state, using the Eid praying ground as a venue.

“The command therefore wishes to state as follows,
1, Turning the Eid praying ground to a political rally will not be tolerated.
2. Anybody found in possession of any dangerous items like arms and ammunitions, etc will be treated as a criminal.
3. No sachet water is allowed on the praying ground as adequate water has been provided for ablussion
4. No chanting of party slogan of any kind, praise singing of VIPs within the praying ground will also not be allowed.
5. Auto-mobile operators are advised to respect the rights of other road users as all acts of irresponsibility will be met with stiff legal consequences.
