Dr Emma Ezenwaji, Chairman Diocesan Central Synod Planning Committee, Diocese of Awka, Anglican Communion said facilities to control COVID-19 spread in upcoming 2nd session of the 12th synod of the diocese has been met.
Ezenwaji said during a press briefing in Awka with some journalists by the committee members on Sunday in Nawfa, Njikoka Local Government Area of the State.
He said that the medical team has put all efforts to ensure that all precautionary measures to control the community spread of the virus was under check and plans made to address any related issues.
“ Control of the spread is uttermost in our planning process, we have plans for sterilisation of the environment to ensure full compliance of COVID-19 directives .
“ The diocese has best medical hands to provide service for any form of medical challenges that may rear up, we have over 200 doctors , 100 nurses, 50 pharmacists and other health workers handy to assist in cleaning,” he said.
Mr Obinna Etele ,Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) collaborated Ezenwaji level of preparedness of the committee for the upcoming synod.
Etele said that adequate preparation has been made to ensure that there would be a hitch free exercise and disclosed that security arrangements has been concluded for a smooth host of the event.
He disclosed that governors of the South East geo-political zone is been expected , including ministers, political personalities and other stakeholders in the state irrespective of their denomination.
“ We expect to see about 100 bishops, over 2,000 delegates and laity are expected to grace the 2nd session of the 12th synod fir year 2021,” he said.
Venerable Clement Mgbemena , clerical synod secretary said the synod the theme: “ Expanding Our Ministerial Coast: Implication for the Ordained and Laity” “ Luke 5 vers 1—13, Isaiah 54 verse 1-8.
Mgbemena said that the arrival, opening service and plenary of the synod would start on May7th to end on May 9th and it would be holding at St. Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church, Nawfia.
Venerable Ifeanyi Umeh, Archdeacon and vicar of the host church said that the bishop of the diocese who doubles as the Archbishop of the Province of the Niger, Most Revd Alex Ibezim, would be delivering his presidential charge on Saturday, May 8.
Umeh urged all good spirited people to come and be transformed through the bishop’s charge which is the main point of the synod.
He said that delegates would be drawn from the 89 parishes that made up the 17 archdeaconries in the diocese with a thanksgiving to end the programme.
Mrs Lovely Umeh, Vice President of Mother’s Union and wife of the host vicar said that all preparation on side of the women ministry was concluded and that the synod cake and launching of fund for mission and evangelism would be on May 9.
Mr Nathan Enemuo , President General of the community and Anglican communion collaborated the high level of readiness of the committee .
He said that delegates and other visitors who may desire to be part of the event should be free to attend as security level in Anambra has improved.
“ Our state has been peaceful and am sure nothing will happen in the negative,” he said
Mrs Njideka Nnebolisa , the President general of the Anglican community said that mother’s would be on ground to give in their support to ensure huge success of the event.
Mr Chike Nwegbe , chairman financial sub committee assured that logistics and other needed preparation are controlled as finance would not derail the events.
