The Governor of Niger state Alhaji Abubaka Bello, has pointed accusing fingers on Boko Haram for the series of attacks on the citizens in a couple of years now, confirming that they had hiosted their flag in Kaure, Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Bello disclosed this when he visited the over 3, 000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) recently sacked from Shiroro and Munya Local Government Areas, now living as refugees at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Primary School Minna, the state capital.
“I am confirming the presence of Boko Haram elements in Niger state, around Kaure, Governor Sani Bello said.
“I just heard that they already hoisted their flag in Kaure, which means they’ve taken over the territory and this is what I have been engaging the federal government with but unfortunately, it has now gotten to this stage that if care is not taken, not even Abuja is safe.”
The Governor, who decried the security challenges bedevilling state, especially in recent time with almost daily records of attack and sacking of more communities, expressed concern over the rate at which the locals were losing their wives to Boko Haram members.
Bello said:“The have taken over the territory with the hoisting of their flag in Kaure, they’ve installed their flag. I am confirming that now. They have also taken over the wives of people by force”.
“Boko Haram elements are trying to use these areas as their home, just like they did in Sambisa forest the situation calls for urgent and collective efforts by all and sundry.
While explaining that the government has taking several steps at ending continued advancements of the terrorist group into greater part of Niger state, Governor Bello nevertheless said his administration would not relent in checking the menace
According to the statement signed by his chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel-Berje, the Chief Press Secretary, Bello said while “all hope is not lost hope in the federal government”,his administration would “no longer wait anymore as the time has come for cllective efforts toward a coordinated military action to take place without further delay.”
A statement signed by also quotes the Governor as saying, “I have not lost hope from the federal government but I am not waiting for anyone anymore”.
