Worried by the spate of insecurity in Kogi State, the state government says it has inaugurated Community Police with over 200 two police constabularies, trained to boost intelligence gathering and work hand in hand with the vigilante group.
They are also to work with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, police and other armed forces to make the state safer than ever before, according to Onoja.
The Deputy Gover of the state, Chief Edward Onika, stated while receiving in audience, the National Executive Council of Igala Youths Council (IYC) in Lokoja.
Onoja expressed the resolve of the state government to flush out criminal elements in kogi State, adding that toward this end, it had deployed more security personnel in Kogi East to ensure the safety of lives and property.
Earlier, Collins Onogu Monday, the National President of the group, expressed over the rising level of insecurity in kogi east, describing the development as worrisome and called for on the state government to rise to the challenge in ensuring increased security presence in the area.
The Reporters recalls that, Idah, the headquarters of Idah Local Government Area of the state, was thrown into mourning few days ago following the assassination of one its sons, Mr Ogacheko Atanu, a Saudi Arabia-based oil expert.
The deceased was said to have visited home on holiday and was preparing to return to his base, less than 24 hours, when the suspected assassins rained bullets on him at 11 p.m on Saturday , despite his plead to give them money.
