Black day in Kogi: Saudi-based oil expert assassinated in Idah

A Saudi-based oil expert, Ogacheko Atanu,has been assassinated by unidentified gunmen in his native homeland, Idah, the headquarters of Idah Local Government Area of Kogi state.

The Reporters gathered that the unfortunate incident has thrown the local government area into mourning.

Atanu was said to have met his gruesome murder in the hands of his killers while observing his holiday in the town.

The online publication further gathered that the incident happened on Saturday, at about 11 p.m when the deceased was about retiring to bed.

Giving the picture of the tragic event, while confirming the incident, the elder brother to the deceased, Mr Ukubile Atanu,said that when the gunmen entered his late brother’s compound at about 11 p.m on Saturday,they ordered him to say his last prayer.

He added that his brother pleaded with the gunmen to spare his life in atonement for money but they refused and shot him severally, adding that it was the gateman in the house that reported the case to the police.

Ukubile, a lecturer in the Department of Arts and Design, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja described the murder of his brother as another black in his family and urged security agencies to bring his killers to justice.

Gunmen Kill Saudi Arabia Based Oil Worker In Idah, As Kogi Police Command Assures, Culprits Would Be Brought To Book

Gunmen in the early hours of today, Killed a Saudi Arabia based International Oil Worker in Idah with the Kogi State Police Command assuring that it is working tirelessly to track the killers of Ogacheko Atanu who was shot Dead early hours of today at his residence in GRA Idah by unknown gun men.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ayuba Edeh, who also confirmed the incident said some gunmen stormed the residence of Ogacheko, refused all his pleas to save his life and take whatever they want, lamented that the gunmen went ahead to kill him.

The police boss,the Police were informed shortly after the incident, adding that information supplied by the security guard on what transpired between the gunmen and his late boss had been helping the police in tracking the whereabout of the culprits.

Ede said that the gunmen went with the handset of the deceased, abducted his female guest but left her handset, adding that the police had covered so much ground in their effort to bring the perpectors of the heinous crime to book, adding that they would not rest until they arrest the pepatrators of the gruesome act.

The Reporters reports that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Lokoja Specialist Hospital mogue.
