Ibrahim Idris,former goveyof kogi state, has called on leaders in the country to prioritise peoples’ welfare in order not to make democracy a mirage, especially to the common man.
The Former Governor made the call when he was Honoured as “the Star Lite Of Modern Anyigba Developement.’ during an award ceremony Organized by Anyigba Developement Association ADA in lokoja.
He noted that he remained relevant in kogi state, several years because he made welfare of the people priority when he served.
Idris,who said he also was also relevant in the minds of the people through the people-oriented policies he initiated, urged leaders to make selfless services the fulcrum of their leadership.
Idris commended the people of Anyigba Community in Lokoja for deeming him fit for the singular honour bestowed on him, stressing that the place of Ayingba in the scheme of things could not be overemphasized.
He expressed delight that Anyigba Community in Lokoja made out time to honour him at this critical time, noting that the honour coming several years after his leaving office spoke volumes.
He noted that his efforts to provide social and infrastructural facilities for the Anyigba Community, Dekina Local Government Area, by extension kogi east and Kogi State and his services to Humanity “is what is speaking for him today.”
The former Kogi Governor maintained that even though it was not possible to do all interms of developement, his strides being appreciated wass a right step in the right direction.
He appealed to the people of Anyigba Community to preach the gospel of tolerance and forgiveness, describing the two words as the bane to the survival of all human nature.
He said bestowed on him and others at the occasion would spur them to do more, not only to Anyigba Community, but also the entire Igala land and the state at large and the community to remain one indivisible entity, geared toward the developement of the town.
The Reporters recalls that Idris, born in 1949,is a Nigerian businessman,who was elected Governor of Kogi State April 2003 and re-elected April 2007, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
