(Minna)

A group from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state, Concerned PDP Progressive members, have accused the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus and the leader of the party in the state, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of creating crisis in the party.

Duaglobalnews reports that the accusation is coming as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party in Niger state, Alhaji Garba Umar Chiza maintains that there is no crisis in Niger PDP but ‘political interests.

This development he noted, was not strange to any democratic setting.

The group accused former Governor Aliyu of favouritism by way of undermining initial arrangements which provides that former state executive members, willing to re-contest their positions be given the opportunity do so.

Addressing journalists at the IBB Pen House, Minna on Wednesday, the spokesman for the group and former Deputy Governor of Niger state, Dr. Shem Zagbayi Nuhu, accused Secondus and Aliyu of stealthily procuring intent forms for some members.

This action he said, was against the initial position of members during one of the enlarged meetings in the state.

“PDP in Niger state is drifting while the National leadership is absent minded.

“In other cases, the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, is either aloof or complicit in the well orchestrated plan to destroy the party. Several artificial issues have been created by members of the party.”

Zagbayi and his group said there weree plots to destroy the PDP in the state.

According to them, the situation was compounded by the fact that the Caretaker committee put in place refused to call for meetings.

Such meeting, they said, would have provided opportunity for members to trash some burning instead of a situation whereby former Governor Aliyu and his group was working against collective decision by key stakeholders in the state.

They also alleged that, “Some forms were secretly released to Talba (the former Governor), we are not sure if the forms were paid for. Any step against the rules and regulations of the party or PDP constitution stands null and void.”

But the party’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, Alhaji Garba Umar Chiza in quick reaction to the allegations by the group, exonerated both the former Governor and the party’s National Chairman from alleged plot to create crisis in Niger PDP.

Chiza told journalists at the state PDP secretariat that at no time was Niger politically isolated by the party’s National Secretariat, adding that “whatever is happening in Niger state as far as the congresses is concerned is applicable to other states of the federation.”

He wondered why Zagbayi and his group resorted to attacks on Secondus and Aliyu.

The caretaker chairman, who described as unfortunate, allegations of trying to instigate crisis in Niger PDP against his person, Uche Secondus and Babangida Aliyu, attributed the scenario to lack of understanding and reflection of what was on ground.

“Zagbayi and his group lack understanding of the party workings, at no time has any of them approach me to ask questions or point out anything they do not understand,”, he said.

According to him, what is happening in the party is all about interests.

Chiza maintained that PDP in Niger state remained as one family said.

“As far as I am concerned, there is no crisis or crack in PDP but democracy in action.

“The party is an association of people of like minds, but in like minds there are interests,”he added.

While however assuring that the caretaker committee would do its best to ensure that everyone is carried along in the conduct of a free and fair congresses, Chiza said his team, “Will conduct party congresses/election.

“In our report reflect, we will on what is on ground, including the impact of individual interests and how it is affecting the party in Niger state.”
