Retired Edo citizens living in the FCT and those who have relocated their businesses to the state but eligible to vote in the forthcoming Governorship election have requested INEC to facilitate the transfer of their voter’s cards to the state.
The President, Association of Edo Community Leaders in the FCT, Mr. Dickson Omoregie,who gave advice in a letter the association wrote to INEC in Abuja on Thursday, said such would enable such voters to participate in the election and further exercise in the state.
While submitting the letter to INEC, Omoregie advised eligible voters to exercise their franchise during and after the exercise with the mind set of ensuring peaceful poll.
He also advised the youth in the state not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause trouble.
He reminded the electorate that politicians don’t see themselves as enemies but protecting permanent interest, adding that “politicians can reconcile themselves on a drinking table within three minutes.
“We will have no other state if we decide to tear our dear state to pieces,” he said.
The chairman, while congratulating the flag bearers of the various political parties in the forthcoming election, appealed to them to see themselves as brothers and sisters pursuing common of electing a governor that would fulfill their yearnings and aspirations and develop the state.
He advised politicians and their followers to eschew utterances that could stir crisis and in order to score temporal political gains at the detriment of the state, adding that posterity would judge them.
“This is an opportunity to show example for the younger ones to follow,” he added.
Omoregie called on community and religious leaders to preach peace to their subjects, to ensure that Edo state would continue to soar high in cultural values and spheres of life.
