Historians of varied accounts of how Lokoja, Ajaokuta and Kotonkarfe constituting three out of the 21 local government areas of kogi state evolved through ages. The development is sequeled to the recent judgement by a Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja which ceded the three areas to the Igala kingdom. For instance,the Ohimegye Igwu of Kotonkarfe in kogi LGA, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Isa-Koto traced the history of his emirate beyond 1841. He did not disapprove of the court judgement, but promised to go to Appeal court to challenge the verdict.
