(Lokoja)

The reality steering at the faces of the people of kogi calls for the state government to begin massive testing for them, now that it has come to the fore that the state is not free from covid19 pandemic.

Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made the remark while giving advice in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Bode Ogunmola in Lokoja on Monday.

Ogunmola lamented the increase in death rate in the state in recent times, insisting that “Coronavirus is real” and as such urged the people take safety precautions very necessary, in order to check the spread of the virus in the state.

The PDP said said in accordance with the Coronavirus induced protocols demands, Governor should to proceed on a 14-day self isolation, having attended the burial of the late Kogi State Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah who was buried in Abuja on Sunday.

The party noted that while the COVID-19 pandemic had afforded other states an upgrade in their health facilities, that had not been the case in the kogi scenario, stressing that that there was the need for the state government to place priority on the safety of its people.

Duaglobalnews reports that the state government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have not been on the same page, as far as the existence or otherwise of the virus in the state is concerned.

While the centre insists that no state in the federation and the FCT can claim not having Coronavirus, Kogi state sticks to it’s gun that there is no Coronavirus in its jurisdiction.
