Father’s Day:Cleric urges parents to instill good values in children

Pastor Samson Oluwasegun of Living Faith Church Amilegbe Ilorin,has urged parents in Nigeria to redouble effort in instilling good moral values in children as away of preparing them for future leadership and ensure a better society.

The cleric made the call in his sermon in commemoration of Father’s Day celebration in Ilorin,Kwara state capital.

According to him, father as the leader of the family should be supported by the mother in the task of training the children and building leaders of tomorrow for the country.

The Pastor advised fathers to discourage the children from getting involved in social vices such as rape and stealing among others.

He, however, called on the fathers to be exemplary in character and remain committed to providing for the needs of the family.

In his contribution, Pastor Akintunde Abdullahi,in charge of region, Redeem Christian Church of God, rejoiced with fathers and prayed God to continue sustain their strength and resolve to build a better family as the arrow head of the family.

Duaglobalnews recalls that Father’s Day was founded in Spokane, Washington at the YMCA in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd, who was born in Arkansas.

The first Father’s Day celebration was done in the Spokane, YMCA on June 19, 1910.

Dodd’s father, a Civil War veteran, William Jackson Smart, was a single parent who raised his six children Spokane.
