Former NNPC GMD, Baru, Dies at 60

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced the death of its former Group Managing Director (GMD), Dr. Maikanti Kacalla Baru.

Dr. Kennie Obateru,
Group General Manager
Group Public Affairs Division,
NNPC,who made the disclosure in a statement in Abuja on Saturday said Baru died Friday night.

Obateru described Baru as a consummate Mechanical Engineer, adding that he died after a brief illness in a hospital in Abuja.

The NNPC image maker quoted the NNPC Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari, as having expressed shock over the sudden death of Baru,the 18th Group Managing Director of the Corporation.

Kyari described the deceased as a man ‘of exemplary character and disposition.’

Duaglobalnews recalls that Baru who was at the helm of the Corporation from July 4, 2016 to July 7,2019.
