Navy arrest 31 violators of ban on inter-state travel in Kwara

Men of the Nigerian Navy have arrested three buses loaded with 31 passengers at Erin Ile/Osun State boundary for violating the inter-state travel ban, by the federal and Kwara state governments to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and spokesman for Kwara Covid-19 Technical Committee, disclosed this in Ilorin in a statement available to Duaglobalnews, an online publication on Friday

He said the suspects were handed over to the police, adding that they appeared in court in Ikorin on Friday.

Ajakaye added that the arrest was as part of the activities of Offa Local Government Area COVID-19 Committee, in collaboration with Igbomina Mobile Healthcare and the Security Agencies.

According to him, the move was to secure the border and instil fear in other would-be violators.

Ajakaye assured that the Committee,in collaboration with the medical personnel, security agencies and other stakeholders would continue to work assiduously to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavrus virus in the state.

He urged the people to stay safe and continue to obey all medical and government directives geared toward ridding state of coronavirus.
