Ilorin

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has ordered the immediate suspension of friday congregational prayer in mosques across the emirate and state at large.

Sulu-Gambari, in statement issued by his Spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona on Monday, said the action was aimed at the spread of pandemic Coronavirus in the state.

He urged all the District Heads, Village Heads, Ward Heads, religious leaders, community leaders, associations and groups to ensure strict compliance of the new order “in the collective interest of humanity.”

The monarch, however, advised security agencies, health officers, media practitioners and other workers of essential services to ensure adequate prevention while carrying out their constitutional duties.

He, therefore, urged religions adherents to continue to pray for the quick restoration of global peace, tranquility and economic prosperity hindered by the spread of the coronavirus infection globally.
