Ogori

Worried by the spate of kidnapping and other crime and criminality ravaging their area, some converned women of Ogori, Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi state have besieged God with prayers for safety.

Duaglobalnews reports that the move followed the arrest of two suspected (a cleric and his wife ), for allegedly aiding and abetting kidnappers in the local government area.

The women, spotted in white attaire and in large numbers, teamed up in prayer against those they said we’re bent on tarnishing the image and ideals of the area.

They took over the market square in Ogori with aggressive prayer for God to expose indigenes of the area who engaged in nefarious activities and for peace.

The women of Iyodina, who seldomly come out in protest, made their outing remarkable, signalling the seriousness of their fight against kidnapping, a crime they consider as inimical to the image of the people of the area.

The women, while carrying out what they term as the power of agreement at the market square, descended heavily on some indigenes of the area who indulged in criminal activities.

They, therefore, prayed to God to expose more of such criminals, just as He ensured the arrest of the cleric and his wife.

The alleged informants, said to be kingpins in kidnapping business, were arrested by the police recently when one of their victims managed to bolt out of the den of kidnappers.

Duaglobalnews,an online medium, gathered that the victim, who fingered the two suspects later availed the security agencies with such useful information which led to their arrest.

Ogori is located in the Central Senatorial district of Kogi state, about 80 kilometres from lokoja, the state capital.

Kidnapping and cultism top the list of crime confronting the government and the people of Kogi state.

About a month ago, 16 travellers were kidnapped; 12 on Kabba-Obajana road in the Western Senatorial district and four from the Eastern Senatorial district.

Prompted by the negative development, Kogi state government, in collaboration with the police, established two Mobile Police stations to fight kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.

One of the stations was established in Okene while the other is at Kabba-Obajana road.

Kogi state shares boundary with seven states of the federation and Abuja, Nigeria’s political capital, making it vulnerable to increased crime and criminality, being one of the melting points of human movement in Nigeria.
