Six kidnapped victims, Police rescue one

The Police Command in Kogi State has rescued one of the six persons kidnapped on Obajana-Kabba road in the state on Sunday, according to its its Public Relations Officer, DSP. William Ayah.

Confirming the incident on Monday, in a telephone interview with a correspondent of Duaglobalnews in Lokoja on Monday, Ayah said immediately the news got to the command, it deployed its personnel to the area.

“In the process, our men were able to rescue one victim and discovered an identical card bearing the name of a staff of JAMB,”he said.

Ayah, who gave the name of the rescued victims as Hamza, said the victim was receiving medical treatment in one of the hospitals.

The PPRO, who said the command could not confirm if those kidnapped during the incident were up to six or not, however, assured that the rescue operation continued to secure the freedom of the rest victims.

Duaglobalnews recalls that six persons, believed to be members of staff of JAMB, were kidnapped while heading toward the West Senatorial district of the the state,from Abuja.

Members of the board affected were detailed to conduct mock UTME examinations in the area.
Kidnapping, a menace with frightened chart in many states of the federation, remains an ugly phenomenon and hard knock to crack in the state.

However, the state government has been doing a lot in stemming the tide of insecurity through increased precautionary measures among others.

Recently, the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, gave order to heads of tertiary institutions in state to arrest cultism in their institutions or get the boot in effort to rid the state of crime and criminality.
