NAHCON welcomes new leadership

The new Executive Chairman of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Barr. Zikrullah Olakunle Hassan has taken over the the mantle of leadership of the commission, promising the Muslim ummah that his tenure would ensure reduction on hajj fares in the country.

Hassan made the commitment while taking over the baton from his predecessor,Barr.Abdullahi Mohammed in Abuja on Thursday.

According to him, the new administration in the commission will equal work hard to build upon and consolidate on the solid foundation laid by Mohammed and others who had contributed to the success of the commission, since its inception.

He paid tributes to the founding fathers of NAHCON, adding that their labour formed the rock on which the foundation of this commission was laid and established in 2006 with the enabling law.

” I make a solemn pledge to continue the never ending journey to improve, elevate and uplift the Hajj administration in Nigeria to an enviable height,” he said.

He said new management would improve revenue generation in the commission and strive to harness new ideas to reduce the cost of hajj.

The new executive chairman, who also promised to make the commission “a global brand’, expressed optimism that reduction in hajj fares would empower more Muslims to perform the holy pilgrimage.

He,therefore, solicited the cooperation of the members of staff of NAHCON, to enable his management accomplish the lofty ideas and programmes they had for the commission, assuring them his management would prioritise their welfare.

Handing over to his successor, the former Chairman, said his tenure achieved its 17 agenda anchored on transforming hajj administration in the country.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing him and his team to serve the commission despite the fact that they were appointees of the Jonathan-led administration.

Muhammed, who spoke in philosophical tone, saying that “nothing is permanent”, however expressed delight that his predecessor and his management team were from the circle of those with experience in Hajj operation.
