Bauchi

The Emir of Bauchi Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, has called on the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to hasten efforts on education and enlightenment of the general public, particularly the intending pilgrims, on preparations for this year’s Hajj.

The Royal father’s call is contained in a statement issued in Bauchi by Muhammad Sani Yunusa, the Informstion Officer for the board.

Yunusa qoted the Emir as having given the advice in his Palace when he received officials of the board on a courtesy visit.

The monarch expressed concern on the closeness of the dateline given for the payment of Hajj deposits by National Hajj Commission of Nigeria(NAHCON).

He advised the board to intensify enlightenment campaign through the media, traditional and religious leaders to enable intending pilgrims to meet the March 7 dateline.

The traditional ruler directed district and ward heads and Imams across the emirate to educate their congregation, especially intending pilgrims amongst them, on the need to pay their deposits before the closing date.

The Emir commended the Governor of the state, Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, for his contributions to the board, which he noted led to the successes recorded by the board during the 2019 hajj.

The Acting Executive Secretary of the Board, Mal Alkasim Danlami Shall, said the visit was to seek Emir’s support toward the success of hajj operation in Bauchi.

He told the monarch that the board had conducted sensitisation tour to the 20 local government areas of the state, to sensitise intending pilgrims, through stakeholders, on the need to pay their deposits in good time.

Shall stressed the need for all intending pilgrims to have at least N750,000 in their credit by March 7, 2020, to pave way for necessary preparations.

He said that the directive was from NAHCON, adding that the aim was to enable conclusion of the necessary arrangements in Saudi Arabia for the success of the exercise.
