The kidnappers of a driver simply identified as Taofeek, who was on his way to New-Bussa, Niger State have reduced their ransom from N1 million N500,000, a member of Taofeek has disclosed.
A family member, who simply wants to be known as Olojede on Monday,revealed this in Ilorin while speaking with journalists on phone, on the latest development on the issue.
He said the kidnapper insisted in collecting N500,000 before they would release Taofeek..
Duaglobalnews recalls thatTaofeek and some other persons kidnapped on Mokwa road, have been in the custody of the dreaded men since February 1, 2020.
The driver who took off from Maraba motor park in Ilorin had nine passengers on board his Toyota Sharon space bus, were waylaid by the kidnappers and taken into the thick Kainji reserve forest.
The kidnappers contacted Taofeek's family through the victim's phone, demanding N1 million ransom before the victim could be released.
Olojede said, though the incidence had been reported to the police,the family was still pleading with the kidnappers.
“We have been begging them to accept N300,000 from us but they refused and insisted they won’t collect anything less than #500,000 before they can release him.
“We have been gathering money and even yet to meet up with the amount they are demanding.
"We call on government and security agents to please intervene on the situation.
" This our brother has been with the kidnappers since 10 days,, we don’t want him to die there”. Olojede said.
