APC chieftain felicitates with Bello, urges LG polls

As Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration warms

to hit ground running for second term after its inauguration at Lugard House on Monday in Lokoja, a chieftain of the All Progressives in Kogi state, Dr William Akanle, has called on the governor to conduct local government election with out delay.

Akanle,who spoke with journalists in a telephone interview, said the continued use of Caretaker Chairmen in the 21 local government areas of the state was unconstitutional, stressing that holding council electio had become imperative for credible persons to take over the affairs of the councils.


He also advised the governor to include technocrats in his cabinet, to revamp the economy of the state which he noted “is nothing to write home about.”


The APC Chieftain also called on the governor to revisit the agriculture, health and education sectors and redouble efforts in the area of security.


He advised the new administration to make more friends than enemy by carrying everyone along in the scheme of things.

Akanle further urged the governor to give prompt attention to the salaries and pensions of workers and the senior citizens respectively as against what happened in his first term of his administration.


Duaglobalnews recalls that Bello, in his inaugural speech, promised that salaries of workers and pension to retirees would be paid 25 and 28 of ever month.

” Governor Bello must leave legacies that the generation yet unborn will be proud of,”he reminded Bello.

The APC stalwart,who said all hands must be on deck toward taking the state to enviable heights expressed optimism that Governor Bello’s second term would be a departure from the first tenure.
