Okene LGA, security agencies, faith-based organisations meet on peace talk

Security Meeting Between Government, Religious Leaders and Security Agencies Ahead of Juma’a Prayer at Okene Central Mosque.

In view of the security breach witnessed at the last Juma’a prayer in Okene Central Mosque, the Heads of security agencies in conjunction with Okene Local Government Administration invited the leadership of both Tijjanniya and Izala sects for a peace talk. The two sects were well represented and promised to support the peace initiative.

The Government and Security agencies read the riot act to the two sects and resolved as follows;

  1. Both Tijanniya and Izala sects should go back home and caution their members especially the youths to maintain peace before, during and after every Juma’a prayers.
  2. There shall be massive deployments of both plain and conventional security officers to the central mosque to ensure security of lives and property of all worshipers. In view of this therefore, religious leaders, community leaders and parents are advise to warn their members/wards to shun all forms of violent act both in words and actions in and around the praying arena.
  3. The Government and Security Agencies also resolved that, Okene Central Mosque and indeed all mosques are places of worhsip and should not be converted to a battle field, hence, Muslim faithfuls are expected to come to the mosque with the sole aim of worshipping Almighty Allah.
  4. The security agencies are on red alert and have orders to arrest and prosecute anyone or group that intend to hide under religion cover to cause violence and breach the peace of the land.
  5. That security agencies are still investigating the cause of the last crisis witnessed at the Central Mosque and perpetrators will be brought to book.
  6. However, the general public should go about their normal lawful businesses without fear of violence or molestation as the security officers are fully prepared to sustain the peace and tranquility of Okene Local Government and indeed Ebiraland.
