CAS re-affirms NAF commitment to safeguarding nation’s territorial integrity

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakars says the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) remains ever committed to safeguarding the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

Abubakar made te-affirmation in Gombe on Monday at the ground breaking ceremony of 203 Combat Reconnaissance Group of NAF at the Sanni Abacha International Airport.

The CAS said the new group was strategically located in Gombe State to enable NAF carry out its responsibilities more effectively, especially in the North-East

Abubakar expressed optimism thatto the group would more value to organisational operations in the fight against insurgency and other security challenges in the zone.as well as the country at large.

He added that the group marked another milestone in the service efforts to mark its presence in the critical parts of the zone.

According to him, the establishment of the the new group was in line with his vision when he assumed the mantle of the leadership of NAF in 2015,to charted a new course for the service.

He said his vision was to reposition NAF into a highly professional discipline for capacity building initiatives for effective, efficient and deployment of firepower in response to the nation’s security apparatus to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

Abubakar disclosed that NAF expanded its service by creating two new additional commands oñe being the operational command with Headquarters in Bauchi as part of geared efforts to secure the country and bring security closer to the people among others.

He said some quick response groups/units,aimed at bringing security closer to the people were located in Gembu, Taraba, Zamfara, and Agatu, Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Katsina State, in response to the security apparatus in the various areas.

The Special Guest of honour, Gov. Abubakar Yahaya of Gombe State, commended NAF for establishing the group in the state and bring in the front line in the fight against the insurgency and other security threats in the country,especially in the North-East.

He expressed confidence the group to tackle insecirity and othe security threats confronting the state.

According to the governor, the establishment of the group would also foster civil/ military relations in the state, pointing out that with group in place, the people of Gombe state would no longer live in perpetual fear of the insurgents.
