An ex-NYSC member turn entreprenueur,Benjamin Emilola,has called on his fellow youths to stop looking for scarce government job and engage in skills that would transform them into successful entrepreneur and employers of labour.
Emilola, who is the Founder/Chief Executive, Big Ben’s Place, Minna gave the advice at the graduation of 25 new set of students he graduated from his fashion designing institute during the weekend.
He said he established the institute to train and encourage youths to establish viable businesses of their own, instead of waiting for unavailable white-collar employment.
As a graduate posted to Niger state for the one year mandatory National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in 2014/2015 batch, Emilola said he decided to add value to his stay in Niger state by establishing the institute to also help government reduce unemployment to barest minimum.
He reminded youths that there is no need blaming government for lack of jobs when they could create jobs for themselves, adding the idea gave him the driving force to open a fashion designing institute in Minna.
He noted with deligy that the institute has so far trained over 100 youths in the past five years.
Emilola said his students underwent 30 days intensive training, on how to design, cut and sew different designs.
“I believe that if we have more people in handicraft, we are better-off for it. I came to Niger state, determined to make a difference and add value to the state.
“Nigerian youths, whether educated or not, should engage in skills acquisition and businesses that grow over the time if well managed, Emilola said.
The entrepreneur expressed preparedness to ensure he trains more young men and women to be self reliant through fashion designing.
Emilola, who said his staff strength had increased in the past five years said: “I came to Niger state and I found the people very hospitable and accommodating and so, I decided to add value to my stay in the state.
“I have decided to stay and make Niger state a home for myself.”
