The War Against Kidnappers in kogi state registered another suceess story on Saturday as three of such criminally minded elements were gunned down and two of their informants arrested.
Duaglobalnews gathered that they were killed were killed in a gun battle on Lokoja-Okene highway by a team of hunters and neighbourhood watch from Okehi and Adavi Locsl Government Area of the state.
The kidnappers were said to be on the plan to strike at travelers plying that busy road when they were made to pay for their evil deed and two of their informants arrested.
Three sophisticated pump action riffles, Bullets, Mask and Charms were recovered from the kidnappers.
The online publication gathered that the feat was made possible through the efforts of the Senior Special Adviser (SSA) Security in charge of Okehi Local Government Area, Abdulraheem Ohiare and his Adavi counterpart, Joseph Omuya Salami.
The two SSAs were said to have had the hunters to the hideouts of the kidnappers, following intelligence report.
Duaglobalnews recalls that June particularly posed serious challenge to residents of the state and those transiting the area as kidnappers had many field days on innocent travelers along Lokoja-Okene and Lokoja-Abuja roads.
Their ungodly activity led to the death of the proprietor of the popular Chuks Super Market in Lokoja, Mr Nicholas Ofodile and three military officers among other victims of Kidnappers.
The kidnappers also demanded millions of naira ransom as condition for releasing their victims.
Increased wave of Kidnappers and criminal activities in the state prompted the state government, in collaboration with the police authorities, to establish two Mobile Police stations in the state about three months ago.
They are located in Okene in kogi Central Senatorial district and Obajana-Kabba road in kogi West Senatorial district among other measures taken to curb crime and criminality to the barest minimum in the state.
Investigation by the blog revealed that many communities, especially those located along the two roads, notorious for kidnapping,have mobilised their hunters against kidnappers to complement state government’s war against crime and criminality in its jurisdiction.
Some residents, who spoke on the feat commended the hunters and other stakeholders in the concerted efforts to rid the state of Kidnappers and other criminally minded characters in the state.
They, however, emphasised the need for the completion of Ajaokuta steel project, industrialization of the state and the imperative of parents checking the conduct of their children, among others, as some of the measures that would curb criminal activities in the state.
