A wave of admiration and academic pride swept through the scholarly community as Dr. Rahman Nasir Ichanyi, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, led a delegation of PhD holders, his fellow mentees,to honour their mentor, Prof. Abdullahi Sani Rufai, on his appointment as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba.

The visit, marked by warmth and deep intellectual reverence, was more than a courtesy call,it was a powerful testament to the enduring impact of mentorship in academia.
Dr. Ichanyi, a respected tax expert, described Prof. Rufai as a “guiding light” whose influence has profoundly shaped their academic and professional journeys.

He noted that the professor’s elevation came as no surprise to those who have benefitted from his wealth of knowledge, discipline, and commitment to excellence, adding that his legacy would remain etched in the annals of scholarship for generations to come.

Dr. Ichanyi also commended the university’s management and senate for recognising and rewarding excellence, while praising the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo, for his visionary leadership and ability to identify and nurture intellectual talent.

According to him, the appointment of Prof. Rufai reflects a broader institutional commitment to merit and academic distinction, which continues to position PAAU as a hub of scholarly growth.

The delegation’s visit highlighted the far-reaching value of mentorship, underscoring how dedicated guidance can inspire success and shape future leaders.

It also serves as a source of motivation for younger academics, reinforcing the idea that hard work, discipline, and good mentorship remain key pillars of academic and professional advancement.

The event stood as a symbolic celebration of intellectual sovereignty, where knowledge, guidance, and leadership converge to inspire excellence and nation-building.
