The 36 Political Elevation Group (36 PEG), a longstanding non-partisan political reform movement, has reactivated its national platform with a renewed mandate to groom disciplined, visionary, and integrity-driven leaders across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Far from being a new initiative, 36 PEG has been active for several years with participation in electioneering programmes from the ward level to the presidency. The group played a significant role in the electoral success of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s second term in Ondo State in October 2020, as well as in the second term campaign of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello in November 2019. The group was also part of the political shift that saw Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq emerge in Kwara State in 2019 during the transition from PDP to APC.
Over the years, the movement has been involved in interstate mobilization efforts and strategic political engagements often described as the “giants’ stride” campaign.
In a statement issued in Lokoja on Tuesday by its President, Prince Dan Olaitan Dada, the group said its reactivation comes at a time when Nigeria urgently needs a leadership class defined by service, accountability, and national interest.
“36 PEG has always stood for purposeful leadership and good governance,” Prince Dada said. “Over the years, we have not only mobilized support for credible candidates with proven records, but we have also spoken out against bad governance and underperformance wherever it occurs.”
The group described itself as a unifying force that transcends ethnic, religious, and political divides. Its core mission is to bridge leadership gaps by equipping members with the knowledge, discipline, and capacity required to function effectively in politics, governance, and community service.
Current Political Engagements:
Beyond leadership development, 36 PEG reaffirmed its commitment to political strategy and mobilization. The group is currently working to identify and support credible and politically sellable candidates ahead of upcoming elections. These include Dr. Bashir Omalaja Bolarinwa, who is aspiring under the APC in Kwara State; Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State, who stakeholders have already endorsed for a second term in 2027; and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose continuity in office 36 PEG is actively mobilizing support for.
On Osun State, the group acknowledged the recent political realignment of Governor Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, who resigned from the PDP on 4 November 2025 and joined the Accord Party on 6 November 2025 while still in office. 36 PEG stated that it is prepared to support his re-election bid under Accord Party, noting that such realignments reflect the dynamic nature of Nigeria’s politics, provided the focus remains on delivering good governance to the people.
The group also commended the leadership style of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, noting that his approach to governance reflects the values 36 PEG stands for.
Membership & Administration Guideline:
36 PEG stressed that the platform is non-partisan and open to Nigerians across all political affiliations. However, admission will be selective and reserved for individuals of proven character, influence, and commitment to national development — not based on family, friendship, or social ties.
“36 PEG is not a platform for noise or division, but one built on purpose, truth, and nation-building,” Prince Dada stated. “When leaders do right, we stand with them and mobilize support for them. When they fail the people, we speak against it — always in the interest of the masses.”
The movement also announced the appointment of Comrade Sanmi Isola Oluleye as its new Director General to coordinate activities across all states.
With a vision anchored on service, sacrifice, and measurable impact, the 36 Political Elevation Group said it is optimistic that its renewed intervention will contribute significantly to the emergence of a more responsible and responsive leadership class in Nigeria.
The group called on like-minded Nigerians to join its mission of building a better nation, insisting that the future of the country depends largely on the quality of leadership it produces.
