The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) has taken a significant step toward strengthening its institutional capacity through a comprehensive staff training programme held at the Joint Revenue Board (JRB) Headquarters, Abuja.
The intensive three-month workshop, designed to address the complexities of the new tax law and the rapidly evolving tax environment, has equipped participants with advanced technical skills while deepening their knowledge of modern tax administration practices.
The Executive Chairman of KGIRS, Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, PhD, reaffirmed his commitment to continuous staff development, stating that his vision is for every employee to build a meaningful and successful career within the Revenue Service.
He explained that sustained training and capacity building remain central to the agency’s reform agenda and operational efficiency.
The 2026 beneficiaries of the programme, Mohammed Kabir Tanko and Usman Muktar, expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman and the management team for the opportunity.
They also commended the JRB Training School for its rigorous and specialised curriculum, noting that the training has significantly improved their technical competence and broadened their understanding of tax administration.
They further described the experience as transformative, highlighting its impact on their professional growth and readiness to contribute more effectively to the Service’s objectives.
At KGIRS, staff development is not treated as a one-off initiative but as a sustained institutional culture that prioritises training and retraining as key drivers of organisational success, particularly in the area of efficient tax collection and administration in the state.
As part of the programme, the two staff members were automatically inducted into the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) during its 54th induction ceremony, held at the Bolton White Hotel and Event Centre in Abuja from April 28 to April 30, 2026.
The CITN induction, a major gathering of tax professionals, saw strong representation from KGIRS, further reinforcing its growing reputation as a centre of excellence in tax administration.
Dr.Enehe’s leadership continues to foster a culture of learning, innovation, and professional growth, strengthening the agency’s performance and credibility.
